abu veritas

this might sound like a dumb question but can you use a baitcaster rod like the abu veritas  6'6 vrc66-6 12 - 20lb  for bottom bouncing/jigging.

i was thinking of just putting it in the rod holder with either a plastic or metal jig. whats the main difference apart from the longer butt and obviously higher line class from this model and the light jig model which i think was pe3 . just after a bit of a cheapy rod that i can just put over the side, stick in rod holder and forget about it. seen the casting model for $50 on a website plus postage and i think the light jig was around $160.

But it is not what it is designed truely for. I ran out off a rod for a floating livie off Karratha so used my Barra setup with a Shimano Raider rod and Curado reel. Hooked a Spanyid and it was on. Was more fun this way as it turned out, but not ideal as we often get large sharks on the floater and it would have almost certainly been goodbye braid.
