What was looking like a quiet trade period has gone boom in the last few days.
As a Pies fan, I'd be disappointed to lose Taylor Adams but it will free up some cap space and we've got some young midfielders in the VFL which need AFL minutes.
Lachie Schultz could be a great get, with McCreery hopefully going into the midfield in 2024. Schultz could eventually replace Billy Elliot in the forward line.
A lot of water to go under the bridge to get that deal done but we're rapidly becoming a destination club.

Basically I I were a coach, winning by only 15 goals and playing defensively isn't as good as winning by 25.
So I think teams will give WC plenty of opportunity while trying to maximise the kill.
If you're desperate to throw some cash my way though I'm happy to take it...
WC will finish with the spoon yet again in 2024....

I definitley wouldn't say I am optimistic about their prospects, but I do think WC showed enough towards the end of the year to suggest that they will be slightly improved this year. With another full pre-season into some of the young players and the addition of another ready made mid, they should make some inroads to the rest of the competition.
If it is going to get worse before it gets better for either of the WA teams, I think that team might be Freo unfortunately.... I sincerely hope I am wrong but after the backwards step they took last year, losing out in the trade period and having very limited impact in the draft, I wouldn't be surprised to see them slide even further this season.

The one thing that seems to
The one thing that seems to have been forgotten was our unprecedented injury toll over the previous two seasons. Yes a lot of those were through mismanagement i.e. ageing players and soft tissue injuries but a high number were unavoidable impact injuries to the legs meaning no leg loading and fitness drops off significantly. Even when we started getting players back towards the end of the season we didn't have the luxury of playing them through the WAFL to get them anywhere near game fit which contributed to the 100 point blow outs with players unable to run out more than half a game.
Geelong were the next hardest hit with injury and fell from premiers to 12th....

Are you taking into account a fair tackle that was awarded a free kick only for the player to miss 3 weeks? Although not an injury you're telling me the Eagles were dog shit because of injuries and Geelong were also dog shit for the same reason....
