Alkimos beach fishing report anybody?

Went with the mrs last weekend and had a coffee at the new café there on Alkimos beach, ive never been there before and presume the structure sticking up out of the water in front of the cafe a couple of hundred metres out is all that's left of the wreck?. Anyway the beach just to the left of the lookout looked like it could be worth a try for tailor or mulla's has anybody had any luck there or is it better to walk either north or south of that area along the beach to any better spots? cheers for any info!

The area in front of the cafe and to the right is all reef scope it out on a sunny calm day to make sense of it. Awsome spot to throw stick baits when the weather allows it. Done good on tailor there and on good days there is normally sambos cruising around in amongs the reef. The reef also creates an awsome gutter about 200m up the beach which would hold some mulloway i would think. Not that ive been lucky enough lately. If you scope out the areas that are clear to soak baits ( limited area ) lb pinkies arent uncommon. Bit of a shame the wreck is slowly vanishing tho. Gonna be a bit hard to describe to people in the near future why that whole area is called alkimos.

The water around that wreck is haunted, I've read shit about it and my brother in law who lives out that way is a avid surfer has had some really weird shit happen to him while he's been surfing the break there. Hasn't surfed it since.

Fished for Mullas just south of the wreck a few years ago on an overnighter. Found a nice gully during the arvo with a small spit of reef running on the inside.

Had a bit of success with a few Mullas caught by the other guys in the crew and we all got a few taylor and herring in the arvo/morning. Personally i missed out on Mullas but managed a few wobbies and pulled in a size crayfish (hooked and tangled) during the night. Made for a great brekky.

Im local to the area and have plucked a fair few tailor from just north of the grassed area in the evening just by flinging twistys around, nice little spot. Shame it is so built up though, i remember learning to 4wd through there back when the bowl and hill climbs were there! That being said, wheeling through there has been off limits for ever!
