Well done to MM, the Bison.....
He's a bloody legend and hard to deny him but.....
I would've given it to Cummins IMO, the bloke has been amazing....
The ashes were taken out of his hands with a ball change but apart from that he's been a bloody good captain, held his bat plenty of times ( 12 against bangladesh ) and been a partnership breaker time and time again with the ball....
Was not recieved well early with the langer carry on but it sounds like JL was pretty full on, bold move making him C but hes done bloody well imo...

Which goes to -
Why is a blacklisted.
Surely not still due to Sandpaper gate?
For 2 seasons by far the most prolific scorer and yet basically banned.
I didnt think politics and sport mix but there has to be some plausible reason.
And it is not because I am just thinking as a Sandgroper.

Media comments
Bancroft mades some comments in the media post sandpaper and he's been in the dog house ever since.
Not sure they'll ever take him back no matter how many runs he scores.
Bison is a Legend. Pure team man.
Cummins has been good dispite his mangina woke crap (and it hurts to say that).

He's allowed to have an opinion imo just like you or I , not like the mega hypocrites at cricket Australia who banned any mention of Australia day on Australia day at the test but were still happy to schedule it then and clean up on ticket sales. If they had any balls they would have rescheduled.

Bancroft
Hasn't sadi anything worse than Warner but he's not as marketable.
I feel for him as he's a very good player who puts the team first (unlike Warner).
I hope he does get another shot and sticks a thousands runs right up CA.
Not a fan of Cummins. But he's not as big a dickhead as Clarke. He still holds the title.
Hopefully Travis Head will be given the job soon.
He's Boonie 2.0

Well deserved
Disagree about Cummins though Timboon, he's good player but a very average captain IMO. Through the ashes and against India his sole plan was loading the boundary with a ring of players. Not an attacking strategy to be seen. If he didn't have Smith and Warner in his ear he would be next to useless, and he's lucky he is usually defending a total above 400. I am also sick of hearing his woke opinions on everything, someone who wants to ban sponsors who have a carbon footprint, but spends his life flying around the worls and being paid to promote disposable razors needs to maybe take a long look in the mirror and STFU.
Re Bancroft, exactly as Lefty said, comments post the sand paper incident cooked him. I still can't understand how anyone believes Cummins and the rest of the bowlers when they say they knew nothing of it. As someone who has played a lot of cricket as a bowler over the years I can guarantee that if someone is messing with th ball, it's impossible to not notice. Stands out like a turd in a punch bowl.

Very happy for The Bison. He's a top bloke and I've had the pleasure of having a number of those beers with him in the past! Loved the acceptance speech!

Bill, I hardly missed a ball
Bill, I hardly missed a ball during the ashes, Test match cricket seems to be making a comeback...
Was great for the game to see the WI get the win the other day...
Brad, I agree, there were too many singles gifted to the Poms but from an overall perspective I think Cummins has grown into the role well...
I also agree with Andy, the bloke is allowed his opinion and the media will make sure they push to get it...
Mitch is a cracker, I haven't had a beer with him but a good mate knocks around with him and he does love a good time...
Saw him recently in gracetown jumping in the soup for a late arvo dip, wouldn't have gone too well with the skinfold test me thinks....

I also think Cummins started
I also think Cummins started out a rabbit in the headlights but has developed his captaincy really well despite my initial reservations about choosing a bowler. He definitely leans on Smith and co tactically but he leads from the front with the ball and has been resolute in the bottom order with the bat. As Captain he's won 15, lost 6 and drawn 5 so discounting the draws that's a win/loss ratio of 71%, we are the Test Champions and ranked #1 in the world.
I still think Travis Head is the best choice but he hadn't cemented his spot when Paine departed.
I watch/listen to a lot of Shield/Marsh Cup cricket and love Bancroft but the fact remains that he just didn't make any runs in County cricket or any recent representitive cricket against touring sides. I would prefer Renshaw at this time who was unfairly dropped back when and I love the way he plays off his pads ala Alistair Cook and he should be opening instead of Smith. Renshaw has the same Shield average as Bancroft over a 2 year period but has also made runs against touring sides.
People forget that Bancroft got another crack after sandpapergate and got dropped for failures with the bat against a swinging ball. But if Harris gets a callup before Bancroft I'll spew my guts up.
