Alternative to Lead Sinkers

Hi Guys
Does anyone use something different to replace lead sinkers. I have used Galv chain links. Is not the cost that bothers me, just thinking about the amount of lead we all lose each fishing trip. The greenie in me has started to think about the impact it must be having not only on the enviroment but lead levels in the fish we eat. So wrecks must have a fair amount.....
Any replacements for jig heads on soft plastics??
Whats ya thoughts

Tungsten is used to replace
Tungsten is used to replace lead in jig-heads, could be a bit spendy for sinkers though!

Wow, was thinking the same
Wow, was thinking the same thing a couple days ago...My solution was some of a berley type sinker for, which will not only help with the casting and holding ground until it dissolved, but also act as a berley bomb for the fish to your bait.
Otherwise these sinkers.

there used to be
some green sinkers in tackle shops - not sure of the brand and the ones I saw were around 4 oz.
They use titanium sinkers in the U.S for trout and cheaper ones made of bismuth with a plastic wrapping.
I once ran out of sinkers on a remote beach near Broome whilst the fish were on the bite and had to use rocks as sinkers :)
Fishin for a feed and fun.

One of the members of another
One of the members of another website I frequent uses reo bar in leu of snapper sinkers, simply weld a small chain link on and dip in paint.
Worth considering.
