Aluminium roller door for cabin

Hi all.

I do recall in the past some have asked about aluminium roller doors for cabin security, but the search function on this forum is broken it seems.

Google has also been pretty useless.

I'm looking to retrofit a cabin door on my boat and am comsidering the roller option given the config of my boat.  Does anyone here have some leads on where i could get one made up, or at the very least buy some interlocking slats and tracks.

Cheers.

Tom.

I have been researching the exact same thing, from memory Mirage and a few others could do it.

The difficult part is that the top roller takes up about 100mm plus empty then bigger when door is up.

If you dont have a foredeck hatch, the slats can run straight along the cabin top to avoid this.

Search "toolbox roller shutter" for the options

Probably looking at $500 plus though

 Hi Rob H.

That lead is exactly what i needed.... toolbox roller shutters!

After having a look at installation details for some, i see what you're saying about the headroom requirements.  My cabin arramgement won't be far off, but i have a feeling i still won't have enough room.

However, i see some places make a toolbox SLIDING shutter which i think will be the ticket.

Cheers.

yeah the sliding shutter is what I mentioned above, but you need corresponding room along cabin roof.

If doorway is 1.5M high, you'll need 1.5M of clear room before you block the foredeck hatch way.

Let me know how you go as I am building at the moment as well and will be doing similar.
Noble Truck Shutters and Mirage (Matt in Perth?) were the 2 mobs that responded to me

Received a quote back from Mirage and Noble, between $900 and $1200 JUST for the slats with the plastic end clips on...

Rip off a Yacht cockpit slat door

If you're the fabricator make up a two piece drop in slat door one on top of another. When not being used store em on your cabin bulkhead on some tabs. Cheap and effective!
