Alutechnos Jiggers: 12C and new 8V
Submitted by till on Sun, 2010-08-15 19:22
The Alutechnos Gorilla 12C reels have been getting quite a good following overseas, its quite narrow, very palmable and has a capacity of 380m of 20lb mono, 4.4 gear ratio, 670g.
Now they have a smaller one coming out called the 8V with a quoted capacity of 300m of 50lb Braid, 580g and 22lb of drag with freespool.
Edit: just put up another image, so you can see how narrow the 12C is. Its supposed to be about the same size as an Accurate 600NN (300yds of 65lb braid), or the older Accurate 665NN (450yds of 50lb). Anyone want to send me one for sambo season?

If you really want to play with one Till, I'm sure I can make some sort of arrangement when I drop by in November.

Alutecnos Gorilla 12C
I have been using one of these reels for about 2years now.
I have posted in the distant past about my love for spinners especially my Diawa Z4500 and 6500Exp.
However I have been won over by the 12C Gorilla simply because it does exactly what it says on the box...........total free spool and a brilliantly smooth drag.
It also has a fantastic fishing friendly design and a high quality engineered construction (which makes the Accurates seem like a junior school project).
However when I loaded the reel I wanted to know its TRUE capacity so I wound off the 360m YGK PE5 from my Exp and found the 12C Gorilla took it all and had room for more (60m more as it turned out).
So for those who may be interested the capacity of a 12C Gorilla is a shade over 400m of good quality PE5.
