Am I being shafted by a fellow forum member
I agreed to a trade "my combo for his" and we had to arrange and pay for freight. I sent mine but I've been contacted by other member who tells me that he received a call from his courier saying that package was delivered to my home but as no one was available to collect they were sending it back to him. He wants me to now pay freight to have it sent back to me.
I am in Bali at present and sender knows this.
The reason I am sceptical is because discussions started on the 21 March. I have asked on a number of occasions to confirm package was sent, company details and tracking number. I was told package was sent but no company or tracking details sent.
if package was sent in a timely manner it would have arrived prior to me leaving for Bali. When I was informed that package was not sent in time to get to me before I left I pm'ed and emailed user a number of occasions asking for company details and tracking number so that I could make arraignments for someone else to collect or to hold package for me until I return. I even asked sender on a few occasions to contact company to make them aware I was away and cannot collect until I return.
I very much doubt that a company would return package to sender after one attempt to deliver. They normally leave a slip in the mail box asking receiver to arrange collection.
Thoughts, am I being shafted.

Ive done quite a few buy and sells on here with no problem at all, real bummer if it goes sour whether a "shafting" or just a misunderstanding.
Always curious to know whether its a regular or a newby here but I guess all will come out.
Perhaps if there is no satisfactory explanation just ask for your own combo back, even if you have to pay for its freight.
The courier (and Auspost) usually hang on to it for a few days and contact the sender/receiver before returning so there must be a bit more to it as you've said.
DONT name and shame until you are certain its really gone bad-then it will be a real problem on all fronts.

Depending on how it was
Depending on how it was sent, freight companies will either contact the seller say 'no answer, what do we do'. When you send the freight, you can advis the courier to leave it at the door if no people are at home, or just keep trying (at a cost).
it all depends on the transit method. If via Post (registered) it would be held in a local office.
Freight companies don't generally return freight all the way back to the sender as they have paid to do the route once and don't want to lose money by going to your place and back again.

shafted
I reckon he's pumping you full of sheeeeeeeyit.
don't know of any companies that will return freight to sender, at least not straight away.
they generally try to deliver once, sometimes twice, then it goes to their holding depo to be collected by yourself at your leisure.
ask him for the company details (again) so that you can ask for yourself if a package was sent/arranged/etc.
if no answer, name them here for all to see.

Hope you get a good outcome
While I'm sure 99% of "regular" members here would deal honestly there will always be people that use this site that have lower standards. The whole communication process has sounded pretty suspect from the beginning and a good reason for dealing local and face to face werever possible to avoid any miscommunication.
The only time I've heard of items being returned to the sender is when the courier company is aware they have damaged the item in transit before delivery.
Hope you get a good outcome.

Yep as above. It's not in the company's interest to send it all the way back, their losing money then. Come on other party if you're not shafting him let's all hear your side? Waiting!

Ripped off
To me it sounds very much like you are being ripped off.
No transport company is going to return the goods to him if not picked up without cash up front and Aust Post will hold it and send out reminders for it to be picked up. If they haven't drop in and ask at your local one where it would have been sent and ask for them to check on their system.

yep - agree
sounds like you have been stiched up. So very wrong.
PS - It will be interesting to see if the other party (not hard to work out who it is), responds now and/or posts here....wouldn't you want your side heard , given the circumstances.

Update
Latest is that a mate sent the rod with a courier and reel with Australia post. Courier has sent rod back while Australia post says they will hang onto reel for 10 days then return to sender. My sister in law who is collecting my mail has still found no slip to indicate a package is waiting. My local post office has no package waiting for collection.
Fellow forum member has still not provided tracking numbers. Says he is at work but has the receipt for sending but tracking numbers. Says he will resend rod when I get back from Bali.
I will touch base with him when I get back from Bali and see if we can sort this out.
I have full name and address and some doggy mates on that side of Australia who are happy to pay user a visit to collect my combo should he be scamming me. Hopefully it does not come to that.

Seems a bit odd even if the sender does not have the tracking number on him he could at least provide the company that he used and you could contact them and ask them to hold on to it or deliver the another address I have had parcels delivered to a mate across the road from me because I was going to be away
