was just crazy. From 4 minutes behind to a win by almost 4 minutes. Kiwis were fortunate that Luna Rossa also fell off their foils. Kiwis appear to have the faster boat but need clear air to press home that advantage. This is far from over.
Really happy to see the kiwis win today and proud to say that I mentioned about 3 minutes before the start that whoever could tack onto port first would get a jump and didn't those kiwi boys just nail that!
I have waited 12 months for this years trip and it will be 4 years for the NZ trip.
really keen to know the top speed of the kiwi boat. Rumours are 63 knots in 18 knots of wind which is phenomenal but the American boat was doing 55 in 20 so potentially achievable.
A great result for Team NZ today. I remember the patriotic Oz celebrations back in 1983. I was working on the construction phase of the NW Shelf Gas Development Project and Woodside closed the site at midday and turned the beers on for all at the Karratha Tavern that afternoon.
Much of the Team NZ funding came from the NZ Government (taxpayers).
I read somewhere that around $200M was an estimate of the funds required to make a challenge. $8 per head for every Australian and there's your $200M. It'll never happen unfortunately.

Prada vs Ineos will be a good one on the 13th.
We were meant to be over in NZ to watch it though happy to be at home...trusting ETNZ win it again and we can go in 2025..

Today's race was phenomenal. Proper match racing, at 40 knots
I have an op tomorrow and am thankful it is now after 1 and not 11.

But like F1
It is all about pushing the technology and being on the tip of the iceberg.
I to prefer the old 12m but also preferred the old F1 cars in the Mansell/Prost/Senna era.

The win was great for NZ
The win was great for NZ (I grew up there) but for The sport and Italy (doing it tough) it would have been a fairy tale.
When NZ claims a sport, I doubt anyone could deny they hold on tight...
Rugby, sailing etc
