Anchors?

Hey guys. I know this is probably a stupid question and I've had it on my mind for years, why do boats anchor from the bow and not from anywhere else? I've always thought it's so you take the ocean from the front area of the vessel instead of copping everything over the stern am I on the right sorta train of thought?

Your thought was spot on.
Your thought was spot on. Best place to take a wave is obviously the bow (ideally a bit better on a slight angle rather than directly front on).
