Annual Exmouth family trip
Well, at about 2:30 this morning we got home from our annual trip to Exmouth. I think it is now 4 different cars in 4 years - this time in a 1988 Hj61 Landcruiser with the factory turbo diesel and 5 speed manual. It towed the boat beautifully with an average of 14.5L/100 over the entire trip. The weather was hot, but cooled off at night enough for a good nights sleep... We did all of our fishing / diving in the gulf, but the spring tides stirred up the water terribly for most of the trip. Attached are a few photos of a bit of a variety of what we did - the deepest fish caught was in about 1.5m of water. I had a terrible time spearing in the dirty water, missing a couple of Jacks that would have easily gone 65cm - I will be after them next year!!

Good shot with cast net
That's a good full circle shot with the net. How far down in the gulf did you have to go to get the prawns.
I didn't realise you could get them from the shore.

Thanks guys,
yep - it is the biggest Flathead I have ever seen, and the first I have filleted - so I think I butchered it a bit... The prawns are well down in the bottom of the gulf - all from the boat... The 60 only cost about $4000 (so far), but is probably the best tow rig I have owned (I rate it as good as my 100 series TD - mainly due to the 5speed manual...) at 491000k's I just hope it keeps going!!

Yeah - I got the console
Yeah - I got the console about 10 years back - it was off a Yamaha banana boat from memory.... I am thinking of cutting the screen down a bit to further reduce wind drag when towing, but I have also been intending on doing a full refit on the boat for the last 5 or so years, and that hasn't happened yet...

Prawns
How did you find the prawns if you don't mind me asking, I've been told that you look for a disturbed section on a mud bottom is that right.

Milky water
Look for the milky water and as stated drive around until you see them jumping, once found you can see them on your sounder to pick the bigger bunches to throw the net at

Each time I have chased
Each time I have chased prawns there have been a number of other boats already there, so it is just a matter of driving around until they are jumping at the boat, and throwing the net.... We were getting 20 in some throws, but did have to spend a bit of time driving around looking for them...
