Another recapture -
Submitted by Andy Mac on Thu, 2012-01-12 20:30
Had a great day on the water today with Kyle and Darryn. Managed to catch, tag and release about 8 Dhuies, kept a couple along with a nice KG and to top it all off we managed to recapture a fish I had tagged back in October. It went back to grow some more.

Yep same spot
The fish had barotrauma the first time I caught it and was released with a release weight, the second time we caught it, it hadn't grown at all and had barotrauma again. We put it back with the release weight again, so hopefully it will have a chance to grow some more.
Definitely a buzz recapturing fish, as it gives you confidence that with the right careful handling and release that these fish DO SURVIVE!!! and grow bigger. That one we caught last week had grown 6cm in a year. I have a few patches where I have released quite a few oversize dhuies with tags in them, so I am hopeful of some bumper catches in the years to come. It would be pretty special to recapture a metre long fish one day.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
