Any good deals on Lowrance going? Transducer recommendations also

Hey guys, currently in the market for 2 NEW Lowrance units, both HDS Gen 3 series. Has anyone been looking around lately and found any deals or can anyone recommend someone they dealt through? I seem to recall Chivers being dealers for Lowrance but cant find anything on their site. Also looking for someone to install these units and transducers if anyone can recommend.
I also have no idea what transducer is suited to me. Will be going on a ~5.5m ali boat, transom mount. Mostly fish shallow, >50m, but still want to find those smaller patches of ground. Is there anything better than the stock transducer that comes with the unit thats going to help? Will also be running 3D Structure Scan.
Thanks guys,
Beau.

I've been looking also.
You didn't mention which size display you were after. I guess twin HDS12 would be overkill on a 5.5m boat but twin HDS7 would be ok. HDS9 is typically another $1k over the HDS7 pricing.
Cheapest I have seen the HDS7 is $1,599 as a package including both the LSS-2 and 83/200 (shallow water) TX.
The 3d StructureScan Tx is $1,199. You could then sell the LSS-2 on fleabay or gumtree.
Otherwise buying separately you be up for $1,499 just for the display, 83/200 TX $150, 3d StructureScan $1,199.

I was thinking a HDS7 as a GPS and a HDS9 to run the 3D SS and sounder.
Are those prices locally or interstate?

Agree
I've had Lowrances for 15 years and I currently have a HDS10 Gen2 - great for GPS/charts but rubbish for sounding. I've had Lowrances on my previous boat and swear I'd never buy another one, however, my new boat already had one installed. Not sure if the structure scan proves a whole lot - I can vaguely pick up ship wrecks on it, but probably more suited to the river.

Check out the simrad GO7 XSE
Check out the simrad GO7 XSE combo. My mate got one just as a stand alone GPS. looks good and cheaper than the Lowrance but made by the same company.

If 90% of my fishing was going out wide looking to put fish in the eski then i probably would go with a furuno, but its actually quite the opposite, I'd say 10% of my fishing will be going out deeper than 20m look to bag a dhu. I don't know anyone else that would be happier catching a salmon than a dhu, that's just how i am. Had a lowrance hds 5 split as gps and sounder on the old boat and didn't have a problem, i think if half of the guys that own them got soundings like i did they wouldn't give them such a bad wrap. Id like to think that the reports i posted on here while i had that boat back that statement up.
Anyway, gonna go see some dealers tomorrow, check out some simrad gear aswell, tossing up maybe running 1x 12inch unit rather than the 2 separate units
