Front heavy?

Sun, 2014-03-30 12:27

Think I have been out on this boat a few years back just after it had been refurbished.

may have been a little nose heavy (and looks like it at rest) so maybe subject to taking some water over the bow, but nothing you couldnt fix with engine trim or putting any dive gear at the back of the boat when under way.

nothing wrong with the Johnson/ Suzuki 4-strokes and it definitely pushed it along alright.

21 footer with a 140, sounds a little light on the arse, chuck a 200 on it and she'll be right.

Going by the low registration number I would think its over 35 years old, the Hustler I owned as my first boat had a 4+ rego number and it was about 6 years old then and that was in the low 1970s

Its a statesman - (says in the ad) didnt know they made smaller boats as the majority of the ones i have seen are the 28 foot statesman - if you google it you will see the similarities in the hull design, dont knwo about the 21 but have had a look in a 28 and it seemed pretty solid -
getting up the front on that one could be a little hairy! - no rails to speak off and a few rounded surfaces that would not be too flash to walk on when wet!

Make sure you take it for a good long water test. Looks like its hardtop refurb has made it bow heavy.

Bow heavy boats have a tendency to broach in following and quartering seas.

Not much fun.

 Yeah still got her...

most people don't really know what a good boat they really are.. Had a few lookers but most all say they want something a little more modern or sporty looking! Ha...

she has been brilliant, especially in the rough stuff!!
