I went out saturday morning
I went out saturday morning on a mates boat and 2 of the boys on board went Scuba Diving for them. We left from Ocean Reef and headed for the rocks just north or the marina. There were heaps of boats out (we got there at 8am and there would have been about 200 trailers in the carpark) Where we went diving there would of been about 10 other boats within a few hundred metre's all doing the same thing. Visibility was pretty poor and they only really saw 3 crays which retreated into a hole and could not be reached.
we went fishing close by for a few hours afterwards and my mate Carl landed a 50 - 55cm leatherjacket. There was plenty of yellowtail and reef fish around but that was about it. It was pretty light hearted fishing and we didn't really expect to catch much anyway. We hooked a ray on the smallest rod that we had out which was loaded with 6lb line but could not stop it.
when we got back to the boat ramp at about 12.30 midday we watched a guy with a nice 6.8m centre concole that looked pretty much like new try and pull his boat out of the water with the outboard still all the way down and it tore the bottom of his motor. He then spent the next few minutes trying to pull about 3 tonne worth of boat out of the water with a Falcon ute without an LSD diff. It spun the right rear tyre like a burnout comp at Motorvation and eventually someone yelled out to his mate standing there to stand on the drawbar to put some weight over the back wheels to get traction. I felt a bit sorry for him cos alot of people were getting a bit frustrated. The guy next to us at the ramp said that he just went out to drop his potts and whilst throwing out the last pot of his he saw someone come along and pull his 1st pot up within 5 minutes of it being in the water!! he confronted the guy who said that he made a mistake and thought it was his but he is lucky that he didn't get his head punched in i would say. He managed to get the guys boat rego so hopefully he gets pinged for it but who knows.
conditions started off really nice but the wind came in pretty quickly. Most likely go again this weekend and see if we can do better this time.

get out early
people are probably pulling your pots before you you get out there yourself. maybe chain a massive anchor with a lock at the top, attached to the boy ? and then unlock the anchor, and then pull the the pot. stop other idiots trying to pull them like scano said.
