Going up there tomorrow for a meet and great and press the flesh with some people for a new job. My Dampier job is finishing up at the end of the month, much to my disappointment.

Yep the free wine is the good point. If you order steak make sure its red before it hits the hotplate. Dont leave any valubles unsecured in your room, put it in your robe and lock it every day. Get your "cricket" checked and new batteries regularly. Dont drink the tap water unless its been boiled.

Its a gas detector and everyone I have had was faulty when they gave it to me. Murrin make their own acid so there is the potential for some nasty gases to be floating around.

they had problems with maggots in the mess food, didn't they go on strike abut unhealthy food a couple of years ago? Also haven't heard any good reports on this site

Correct about the maggots Roberta however
the investigation that followed indicated that the maggots had in fact been planted by persons to cause industrial unrest.

It was some time ago
but the Laverton pub was usually entertaining and their 'Reef and Beef' was better than most Perth restaurants efforts which always surprised me for an inland town.

Maggots in food untrue
Wish some people would get the facts straight before saying there was maggots in the food, it was planted by a bunch of people who wanted to go on strike not the chef's. The people in the kitchen work bloody hard with a limited budget, which is set by the morons who run the mining companies.

I actually owe Murrin Murrin for not giving me a job back in the late 90's so I went and started my own business and have never looked back. They called me about a year later to offer me a job in which I had great pleasure in turning down.
