Anyone NOT Head Out Today
Bloody hell it was worse than xmas time at Hillarys with cars queuing to West Coast Drive at 6:30. It all moved fairly well though and we were in within 20 mins.
Really struggled today on the berley and anchor at Scarb reefs landing a few wrasse, a gunnard and I got a 42cm Dhu at the spot we caught a 57cm model last year in 11m!
Went on the troll and saw a few birds and a couple of splashes but weed clumps made it too hard work so settled on fishing some broken ground in 23m and got a good feed of very plump sand whiting.
The water was magic mid morning and we stayed out once it turned to avoid congestion retrieving but boy were we wrong as it was a good 40min wait to retrieve. Some douche in a rib decided to drop his mate off at the floating jetty and reverse his trailer in front of my boat and then they completely fucked up the drive on missing the trailer and the prop almost chomped the boat across as well as the concrete ramp then he trimmed it right up and ran it dry and they had to walk into the water waist deep to retrieve it. Haha. Man that made my day.

My best memories were watching people retrieve from Coral Bay when they used to beach launch, always gott he camp chairs out and a few beers. Guess you could start a whole new thread on funniest moments.

Went to woodmans point and apart from the usual unstrapping from boats in the launch bay, it all ran really smoothly.

I've found that 98% of crew at the oceanside boat ramps are switched on and courteous and I regularly have people offer to help when I'm solo. For whatever reason the river is numpty city

Woodmans point
We came back in about 2pm with a big line. Got through it pretty quick tho.
people trying to grab the jetty while driving is always good for a laugh. He wound up spinning his bout around not able to hold the back in and almost took out 2 boats with him.
Within about 10minutes there was 15 boats doing circles waiting.

We got back just before then
We got back just before then to avoid the rush. Wife is due on Monday so wanted to minimise time just sitting and waiting.
puzzles me how some finger jettys have 4 boats tied up and some had one...

2 Rocks
Massive line up of boats at the ramp this morning - up the hill and at least 200 metres further on at 6.30am.
Good news was it flowed reasonably fast, thank god for the coffee van!
Conditions were way off forecast but we did well with 2 good keeper dhuies and baldies.
Came back in around 3pm and no lineup as the majority of boats were already in.

Leeuwin boat ramp
Launched at Leeuwin and wasn't too bad at 5:30am still busy, headed out NE of rotto managed a blackass and two undersized dhu's. About 9:40 decided to head back and beat the sea breeze. Hadn't been out to rotto in quite a while and the amount of traffic heading over at that time made the ocean like a washing machine and then greeted with a full boat ramp and about six boats doing circles waiting to come in makes me think that doing that trip on the weekend is no longer an option. As Jackfrost80 said numpty city in the river.

Took my young bloke and his
Took my young bloke and his mate out of Hillarys, first proper fish with dad for my youngest (8 yrs old).
Line up was brutal, we lined up in the queue only to have some c$cksucker see the line and decide to head through the West Coast roundabout, then went around into the car park and down the retrieve lane, hoping to bypass about 30 guys waiting in line. What is wrong with people....There are lot of arseholes in this world!
Luckily a few of the lads in line gave him the heave ho......and he took off with his tail between his legs.
Had a great day, young bloke got a nice KG, his mate a few nice skippy, did not take long before they wanted to do something else than catch KG's.......had a swim, play in the sand dunes and the dads even snuck a few beers.
Came back about 2pm to ZERO line up at Hillays to my amazement.....thought it would be bedlam.
Boston Whaler 235 Conquest......getting the flogging it was built for.

Ocean reef was also packed
Ocean reef was also packed out. There were cars with trailers parked out on the verge on the main drag.
Also saw some poor bloke with a young guy drop their ali boat onto the ramp. As soon as it came down the crest of the ramp the boat decided to launch itself, although a little early. Not a good start to the day unfortunately.
We, however, managed to keep our catch rate consistent and bring home the donut!

I was amazed at the amount
I was amazed at the amount of boats that had headed up our way from 2 rocks. Seabreeze was in early and was howling by 11.30 watched a few having to head south into that big chop with still a decent swell running, can't say I envied them. Dhuies didn't want to play and I wasn't going wide to find them, too much hard work.Next Sat looks promising so fingers crossed.

Avoided the traffic at Ocean Reef
Launched at 5:20am....not too many boats at that time.
Headed for a deep drop...37nm out in 450m. Weather didn't play ball at all and we always had too much breeze to fish effectively. Ended up with 4 Gemfish, 6 Big Eye Sea Perch (these are good eating) and a Pelagic Amorhead....what a mixed bag!!, but not what we were hoping for. We thought the Gemfish were Black Snoek, so threw them back, but the photos certainly look to confirm they were Gemfish.
Came in to 80 metres and pick up a few Breaksea to finish off.
Got back to the ramp at 4:45pm. There were only a few boats still out at that stage.
Was hoping that wee would get a calm period at some stage, but it didn't happen

I went to Hillaries at 7:30
I went to Hillaries at 7:30 and there was a line of about 10 boats queued up down Hepburn ave before you even got into the marina. Looked like it would have taken an hour or so to launch.
So we turned around and went to Ocean Reef instead. Managed to launch the boat straight away but couldn't find a car park. Eventually I found someone who was retreiving their boat and followed him back to his parking spot.
The fishing was a bit average, couple of undersized dhus, 3 undersized BB and a undersized baldy only managed to keep a single flathead.
The forecast was a bit off the sea breeze came in earlier than expected which made for a bumpy ride back home.
