Anzac day

Headed out on anzac day with the intention of getting a feed for a long weekend family barbecue and mothers day lunch coming up.Boated my first dhuie a nice 68cm which took the pressure off for sun nights barbecue. My decision then was to find some new ground. For the next couple of hours things went real quiet and not even the pickers were biting.Next was an undersize dhuie which was promptly sent back to the depths using the release weight. Then I picked up another nice 65cm dhuie. It was now brads turn and he didnt read the rule book on not catching a fish bigger than the skipper ha ha catching a healthy 80cm duhie. With the sounder showing plenty more fish one more drift was the call.To top off a perfect day brad pulled up a 54cm dhuie. With the icebox full it was time to head home early.Good to see the fisheries research guys at the ramp again.Dhuie on the barby and beers went down a treat. One of the best fishing days I have ever had and finally some clear dhuie photos for keeps

Boat is 5.6m (southwind sf17)went out just inside the 50m line. You need to realy know your weather predictions well and we only go out there a handfull of times per year on the perfect glassy, low swell days. This time of year the weather is generaly the best.Having a 120 litre under floor fuel tank helps too.

Hate having to buy that californian squid, too big and full of crap inside. We used californian squid, mulies, and fresh fish fillets.Hoping to get down to cockburn sound shortly and catch some nice small squid for fresh bait and a couple of bigger ones for rings
