Id say we will be lucky to get 2KG each, let alone 20KG.
But Im brining a mate of mine who is just getting into the fishing sides of life, so booked 2 places to allow him to experience some deep sea fishing, With some luck of catching something at least. (fingers crossed)
Would you guys recommend to bring some of my own bait and rigs (Gang Hooks) etc, just for back up.

Cheers mate, I have only a 6"6 boat rod, that I got outa Kmart, not the best, I think I would be best sticking with the gear they supply. (I know Joke right).lol
I have experienced the shitty Alvery reels on charters before, and my god they are Diabolical..
Would you think the Kmart 6'6 rod with a decent reel (bought seperatly) with 20LB mono be sufficient??

Wont be heading until next
Wont be heading until next saturday.!!
But I'll follow your advise and see what happens.
I am sure the report will be as comical as the Offer.. But sure its all for the day out on the water with a mate and with a chance of hooking something.
Without the Luxury of not owning a boat or not having any deckie experience, I would have little of no chance of geting into the deep water other wise.
So we are basically just the target people that the add is aimed at.. (and It worked)

Its legit
A friend of mine went on the $99 one out of Mindaries, supplied tackle etc. He caught some small fish but the other anglers got some dinner.

Mindarie scoupon
Was absolute crap $99 yep half price of a normal deep
Sea charter
24 anglers on board not all could fish at once and we only went out about 5 k
The head decky was apologizing for the lack of fish before we even cast off
Setting us up for a day of disappointment he was spot on
The operators that day absolutely killed the pig with profit all on board were scoupon holders
What a bloody scam half price what bullshit
Buyer beware

I went on that one too
Caught a few fish, quite a few baldies caught.
We went to some reasonable areas, a lot fishing but big boat, no taking turns etc. tangles weren't a problem.
Cooked breakfast and lunch and soft drink and coffee provided.
For $99 I thought that was great value.

Mucsavage, best pre tie some
Mucsavage, best pre tie some heron rigs! Personally I like a a 5m length of fluorocarbon tying a 5/0 hook on each end, place a good size cube of mulie on each end & chuck it into the school. Wait for them to eat then fly off *bang* you have a double header of pure tasty. Best done on bbq dusted in corn flour for that crispy skin taste, yummo!!

That's just cruel Lamby!
That's just cruel Lamby! The getting us salivating over tasty barbecued heron.
Took me a while to figure out what they could have meant though. Now I'm imagining some crusty sea dog explaining it to some poor ditzy receptionist. "Herrin love, Herrin!"

Mindarie
I went on the one out of Mindarie and it was great! I came home with a big snapper and a blackarse, great BBQ lunch, no tangles or issues ( I was using a TLD25 with braid) all for less than $100! After fuel for the car & boat plus bait and food I'd be lucky to get my boat out for less than that! Good day anyway.

What an awsesome ad, Red
What an awsesome ad, Red Emperor, US Striped Bass, the chance to tangle with a mighty Heron and two fully rollered trolling rods trolled side on guaranteed to burn you off on strike. A hundred bucks for a day on the water a good deal though.

tips
Well all, seen as most of you seem to know your stuff about fishing off a boat, wheter it is with your own boat or via charters in all other areas around,
As mentioned above I will be going for the day trip with the advertised company in the deal.
Just a taught, I know the gear some charters supply maybe overkill, a stiff thick rod, alvery reels, and the usual same bait (Occy) and rigs for all on board. (speaking from past experience from a Charter boat from Perth, with f&%k all success)
Now here is where I would like to get some constructive information from you guys on here,
Can you suggest what bait to bring of my own, (mullies, squid??), what type of rig to use??, Bare in mind I do not have any boating equipment such as a decent rod or reel, as I dont have the chance to go boating ever.
So I will have to manipulate the gear that is supplied to me via the charter to get the setup suggested. I will of course bring made up rigs of the suggested type that you all throw my way.
And I will try test all the rigs of you all and see wheter or not your theory works, or is it either the fact everyone on the boat charters are using the same shitty rigs and fishing set up, that do not catch the fish, or is it the fact that the skippers just dont put you onto fish while paying threw the nose for a days fishing on the open ocean.

mate my tip -dont over think
mate
my tip -dont over think it - it is a cheap day out on a big boat -go along with the intention of catching fish but dont let that be the trigger that determines whether you have a good day or not. The reality is charter boats are expensive to run and you cannot expect to have the same experience for that price as you would going out way behind rottnest.
So forget taking your own bait/rigs -just turn up and have a good time :-)

I get what your saying, and
I get what your saying, and agree totally, it is something I will enjoy either way, I am just wondering is there anyway to increase my chances of catching anything different compared to the mass amount people on the boat using the same baits same rigs in the same 15-20ft length of water.
Without the luxury of my own boat or friends with boats. It is not often I get a chance to try catch myself something in deep water. So as much fun as it will be, wheter I catch a scorpion cod (again) lol or wheter I miraclously catch myself that price Pinky on a fluke, I just want to try something different compared to the others. ( I get that fishing is fishing and anything can happen, and maybe the ones using the same rigs and same bait might out fish me trying different things, I dont mind, as thats fishing Its just something to try)
At the end of the day I know its a cheap day out with friends, having a laugh and is something to remember for a long time to come for the fun and banter either way. but I am just wanting to experiement with watever I can while I have the chance.
Is there any decent trips that do not break the bank account to get out on, with skippers who aim to catch the decent fish off back of rottnest that you mention. I have heard of a few mentioned on this site before but was not sure which ones are the ones most people have the better success with..
Im just wanting to learn as much as I can while in WA and wanting to try my hand at any form of fishing. Cheers.
