Back from Karratha
Well im back in Perth unfortunatly :(
Just days before leaving to go to Karratha i knew i would be having some crappy luck when i seen the weather and noticed a cyclone brewing off the coast.
All i cared about was getting there before they delayed the flights.
Finally the day before i flew out it was confirmed, my plane will be flying :D
Took off 6.00am took a few pics while on the plane  and watch a bit of inflight tv and before i knew it we landed in Karratha at 7.45am, bloody quick flight!
My mates g/f was there at the airport to pick me up and went back to there house to help pack up for cyclone. It started to look like it was going to be cat 4 direct hit at one stage.
Spent the whole first day packing up the house. Next day, my mate Kristian arrived in Karratha and spent that whole day sitting around because weather was terrible.
3rd day luckily the cyclone went around Karratha but weather was way to windy to fish
4th day finally! we went to a spot not far away to get some live mullet and we did very well. Ended up getting 25 perfect little mullet and even a queeny in the net lol!
I quickly chucked one out and within 5 mins there was a big tail wash right where i had cast my bait. After a brief hookup it spat the hook
We also took the tinny around the creeks trying our luck.
I ended up catching 1 catfish and a cod. My mate Kristian got 2 mangrove jack that he released.
Next day we took the tinny out around the burrup and that water was starting to clear up and look blue again :D
We trolled 3 lures around some really fishy looking area for 3 hours with not 1 hookup
Next day we teed up with a local bloke to take him wicked boat out 80mile to a gas platform.
More to come soon...

Next day we teed up with a local bloke to take him wicked boat out 80mile to a gas platform.
We all chiped in for bait/fuel etc and headed out. I was a bit worried that i would get sick but after having some travel calm i turned out to be fine
On the way out we headed out between the islands and stopped at 1 particular island to take some pics.....
Also on the way out we noticed lots of ore ships anchored up for the cyclone. It made for some great pics.......
Ended up at our spot and First drop i hooked up this fish below.....
Not sure what it is
Second drop i hooked this fish, think it is a tomato cod....
I struggled hard for the rest of the boat trip to land any notable fish. I did hook up onto a HUGE THUMPER! But ended up spitting the hook
Kristian caught a very nice rankin cod...
My mate salvotore got this red..........
As soon as it got dark all the sharks came out and stared to bite us all off
More to come....

Next day we headed out to point sampson to drop Kristian at the pub to see a freind and we stopped at the causeway.....
We seen a local aboriginal bloke having a fish my mate knew and he was keen as to go barra fishing the following day. This got me very excited.
Next day i woke up at 5.30am with gear packed to go barra fishing.
6.00am and he was due to pick us up. 6.30 came so we rang him and unfortunatly he couldnt go  Oh well. My mate salvotore said we would go to the causeway 10pm that night and get some mangrove jack and fish the runout tide.
I decided to kill some time and fish the backbeach boatramp for a few hours but only managed 1 catfish
Now i was set to wait till 10pm to go to the causeway...now this my last
chance to acually get 1 decent fish for the trip even if it was only a mangrove jack.
8.30pm came and wouldnt you know it  The heavens opened up and rained so damm hard! No chance of fishing
Oh well i had a great time and seen Karratha. Now i will look for a flyin flyout job there. Loved the place!

Great work again Marc
Great pics and info. Shameabout the cycloine, but you still managed to get out and catch some fish. I love the pic of the big tanker you trolled up.
There are certainly some fishy looking places up that way.

Bad luck Marc, we had some of the worst weather we've seen in 12 months the week you were here.
Sorry I couldn't come and meet you while you were here, it was a pretty hectic week.
Hope you get to come back soon and sample some of the true potential of the area.
Great pics!

I think thats a tata lizard
They call them Tata lizards because they look they are waving. But they lift their feet of the ground and wave them around to cool off. Great lizards, I had one that set up home outside my office window in Karratha.
