bag limit in coral bay

been looking at the regs on bag limits when up in coral bay. my understanding of them is you can get 5 demersal and 3 palegics.

bit of a change since i was last there. heading up in may so want to be sure and not get done. is it still 20 kg p /person you can bring home and must be labelled

20 kilo

Sun, 2019-02-03 19:27

think 20 kilo of fillets per person is correct as but fillets can be any size and without skin on when transporting .

if you are filleting at sea then yes you need to leave skin on and fillets must be over 30cm.

Once landed you can fillet and bag to whatever size you like

 Only fish with a minimum

Mon, 2019-02-04 14:10

Only fish with a minimum size limit have to be 300mm or more. Fish without a size limit can be filleted at sea with skin on. The fillet can be any size.

Only when detached.

If wings still on fillet it is part of 20kg (depending on how much you annoy the FMO)

Quite likely not to everyone reading this forum who isn’t smart enough to read the actual brochure Andy.

Its quite specific

”for these pieces to be excluded from the limit they must be completely detached”

Bait supply

Tue, 2019-02-05 04:44

One thing i can suggest is go to Mick at Shorecatch and get some mixed bait packs made up.

Get your own mix put together for your type of fishing, ie occy, squid, mullet fillet and some whole whiting for demersals or squid tentacles, prawns and an occy leg for an inshore fish.

Get the size of bait pack to suit the number of fishermen. 400g for 2 blokes, 750g for 4 etc and then you dont need to take out and thaw out 1kg of squid, 2kg of occy etc and hope to use it all before it goes off or have to refreeze it.

1 bait pack per day with no, or very little, wastage.

Guys- just to clarify, my wife works with Fisheries, so i did seek clarification..YES, u can have 3 x Rubys, plus 2 GB etc..upto 3 of each individual species, but obviously no more than the combined 5 in total..we head to CB every year, many a time have had fisheries on board with our 3 x reds plus 2 x GB each fisher-never had an issue.

Good luck and i agree with others....take ur bait with you, too $$ up at CB..but fresh fish fillets are by far the best bait up there...
