Bagged out by 10am 28/1/12

Organised a fishing buddy to come out on my boat down in Mandurah to go out with my Uncle and his boat. Got a message at 2:30am saying he couldn't make it as he had come down with the flu so it was a lonely drive down to Dawsville at 4am with no boat in tow as I was going to make the third body on my Uncle's boat. Launched my Uncle's boat at 5am at the Dawsville boat ramp and it was a mill pond. Long story short, 23Nm out with very flat conditions and hungry fish. Caught our boat limit before 10am and on one block of squid between three people and that was the only bait we were using. The Blue Bone next to the Red Snapper is a smidge over 500mm.

Pretty nice from what I've been told. Will find out later but you have to watch their scales as they will cut you easily. My uncle calls them razor scales and I found that out while filleting the fish.

Looks like a great day out,
Looks like a great day out, might seem like the allowable take home catch is little lean but being able to do the same with your kids/grandkids is important too, that's what it comes down to "the experience rather than trying to offset costs with flesh". Not often you get flat water and fish on the chew, usually it's just "a good day to be on the water".
Cheers, Daisy

Great conditions! Was a millpond out last night too
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Have any luck last night
Have any luck last night dkonig82? Was thinking about it but didn't like my chances of getting a leave pass for last night and this morning.

Good bag
Well done Fraser...we left the Dawesville marina at 8am and headed out about 20Nm. The sounder was showing us lots of fish be we only managed to come home with 1 blackarse. Found a few new 'lumps' with fish around them but we couldn't entice them with squid, mulies or soft plastics....maybe we'll have better luck next time.
Got a close look at a big cargo vessel as it steamed north!
Was a great day on the water, though...even had a couple of swims while we were out there, just to cool off.

Magic day out
It was a good day out and we all had a good feed on the catch, it is good to fish on new ground with good fishing friends. Bring on the next good weather day, more ground to inspect
