balloning for macks mindarie

Was at the marina today watching the ocean and noticed some helium balloons out for mackies a sight i thought id never see off our metro wall ,hopefully the boys nailed one[ a metro makie] this year has been crazy  ,as theres been a few caught in the area.  Any way as i was there some nob jockey jetskier decided to drive right through the balloons and boy did the ratches go off, was a laugh but made me wonder on how fuken useless the skipper on the jet ski was as the ballons stood out like dogs balls and they had notice the ballons earlier!

Pretty much sums up most jet ski jockies IMO, especially those with no knowledge of fishing.

Ballooning

We balloon with helium from the beach at hill river sometimes. Haven't had much luck but have had a few hits.

We started after a few hits by mackies just surf casting from shore.

Have to agree with big john, not many good experiances with the jet ski mob, mainly at the boat ramp.

But most guy's who fish from them seem to be aware of others.(IMO)

Same thing happened on one of the rare occasions I gave ballooning a go...Have even had them come in so close they would have gone past right over my cast bait. absolute tossers, got the whole ocean and they gotta fang around where people are fishing!

I guess all you can do is wait for them to come back the other way and hope they run into the 8oz that just happened to be cast in the same place at the same time....

Jetski

Was ballooning down near the horse beach in Henderson about 2 or 3 weeks ago, bright red balloon about 150 to 200 off shore when some cock on a jetski came through on what was a glass off doing 70-80km/h...... was a disaster waiting to happen, even when going past the balloon the rider was completely oblivious to the near miss.

What a way to go, decapitated by Saltiga PE6 braid......

Was my first time there mate, got bugger all that day. The intention was to balloon off the end of the ammo jetty, that plan went sour when we rocked up at the jetty and 5-6 of the young lads from Fishwrecked had beaten us to it. They had 6 balloons already out and a tangle was waiting to happen.

There keen though, i'll give that to em!

I'll keep trying the beach though, might get lucky one of these days and you don't have the worry of your car or gear being knocked off at the ammo jetty carpark.

Not Just Jetskis

We had a boat drive straight over the top of our troll lines out from hillaries on Sunday, couldnt believe it didnt even respond to the yelling at him. Would have been no more than 15 metres from the boat.

Lucky those Halcos float so we scooted around and picked it back up!

Have to agree nightfish, have seen boats come along rockwall's and get every ones rigs. Not balloon rig's but bottom rig's.

Drive straight up along about 10m out. A few large sinkers were launched their way to say the least.
