barnacles

taking the boat down to bunbury and it is going to be in a pen for a week. last time we did this we got an awful surprize when we pulled it out. all these small barnacles were all over it. over time they have started to come off but there is quite a few still on there. the question is how do you keep them off or get them off without painting antifoul on.

Are you going down...

...at a different time of year from last time? Could be a seasonal thing? We've gone down to Busso and left the boat in the water for 10 days and never had any problems like that...makes you wonder what's happening in the harbour at Bunbury. Maybe off ships?

Vaseline

Give it a good coat of vaseline/ petroleum jelly, it stop them attaching to the hull.

Seems odd that they would form in such a short time down there in the cooler waters. Would expect it up this way but not there, If there is a boat with an automatic battery charger/ bilge pump running , make sure you lift the leg each time you leave it and check the condition of your anodes as they will disappear quickly  through the electrolisis charge
