Has been a dissappointment. IMO unless you have the big $$$$ all you get is crap.
My best mate is a Tandem master up there (mad to jump out of a perfectly functioning plane) and I visit about once every 2 yrs. Fishing wise. a load of Polony.
Been there all times off year for NADA, unless you spend big time and then just maybe.
Go there to Party and perve at the Swedish Backpackers, and even that has dropped in quality.
Mate despite what you hear the barra still bite readily at this time of the year in Cairns. Last weekend was out due to some heavy rain, but the weekend before I fished one of the local rivers and caught 9 casting lures. Not big fish, (between 50 and 65cm) but they were going off. That's only counting the ones I landed!
Of course it does take local knowledge and experience.
For charters I'd suggest send Les Marsh an E-mail info@fishingcairns.com.au. He's involved in the charter scene and knows his stuff. I haven't been on any charters so can't comment.

Going to be hard going this time of year though. The Barra tend to shut down in the cooler weather.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
