bastard fish invaded my mack spot

shot out from two rocks solo in search of some more jigged mackies, found the bait balls dropped the jig zzzzzzzzzzz pop damn it, jig gone bitten off. tried this a few more times for 2 more lost jigs one to knot failure the other to another bite off.

moved away for a bit as i had become frustrated picked up 2 small dhus both released, marked some new ground but nothing great. couldnt believe the speed i was drifting well over a knot with sea anchor out in calm conditions. any one else get this problem today

anyway moved back to original spot chucked a placcy down for something different BAM hit as soon as it touched the bottom, this was the begining of a snapper sesh i hadnt had for a very long time, all up 8 snapper smallest around 650mm largest over 800mm, gave up taking pics after 4 fish.

cheers gilly

Sun, 2015-05-10 20:48

Top fish there Gilly, was off two rocks yesterday

Drift was around .7 to 1.2 knots with the sea anchor out
no snapper for me , but had a bit of fun with a school of tuna for a little while, but I was only in about 42 meters.

 and from what i saw

Sun, 2015-05-10 21:24

and from what i saw yesterday seemed much calmer then today yet you still drifted that fast. the drift was crazy i watched a cray pot with two floats and one 10 feet under go sub surface in really calm seas really strange. similar depth

Can see why salmon are hanging around , look at that strip of cold blue  hugging the coast from cape leewin to perth.

I hate you. So jealous. Cracking fish, would have been wonderful out there in those conditions.

Nice work.

 yeah plastics are good fun

Mon, 2015-05-18 18:24

yeah plastics are good fun and easy to use snapper love them.

i caught one mack on the drop and lost 2 jigs on a fast retrieve, only tried that spot twice so when i say "targeted macks" it was with tongue in cheek as i fluked one 2 weeks prior
