Bayswater Mulloway
Submitted by Birdman_1992 on Thu, 2017-01-26 22:54
Stumbled across some solid washed up mulloway the past few weeks around sandy beach reserve as pictured, also several discarded filleted mulloways along the river bank so they're pretty far up river! Most days I walk along the river I see bait fish jumping around so maybe some tailor have cruised up too!

Was actually a friend of mines photo! But I have seen them there, fisheries were called and apparently they saw several large ones washed up so I'm not sure what caused it!

Could be a couple reasons. Might have been caught and released only to float up later.
They do get hit by boats on occasion and don't always have prop marks as can be hit by the hull only .
Sometimes large fish get something stuck in their throat while feeding.
There is no algal bloom up that way at the moment. To hard to say without checking the carcase, but would hardly have been just left there, considering some people spend half their life trying to catch one.

They can die from old age and there has been a lot of tidal movement in the river. If a shark did not find it it just washed up
