BBQ's

Hi Guys,
Just wondering, I am in the market for a new BBQ. Got a bit of a project happening and going to put a inbuilt one in.
I am wondering what you use the most. the hotplate or the grill.
i am picking between 2 bbq's. 1 with all hotplate and the other hotplate and grill. I understand that the second is the best of both worlds, but unless you use the grill it can be a bit of a waste.

I'm a grill man...most of my meat goes on a hot grill , the flare up gives it the flame/chargrilled taste...the plate be for onions eggs etc ...you could always put a frypan on top of the grill if the need arose ...but if you and yours don't like grilled I suppose just get a plate

Agree with Scuba about the fish drying out on a grill but these are supposed to be perfect for meat. Masters does a 2 burner for about $229

Both
You gotta have both, steaks cooked on the hot plate just don't taste as good.i have the infrared burners on the back wall for use with rotisserie, goes really well!
You should also get a rotisserie as it cooks meat like lamb sooooo well. A decent side burner / wok burner is also a must, I use mine all the time.

Agree with Matt - both and a rotisserie
In summer you can have roast chook without heating up the house, lamb is brilliant - I like the volcanic rock under my griller but each to their own

Half grill, Half plateGo
Half grill, Half plate
Go for 6 burner but the same cooking area of a 4 burner. You get better heat distribution and control ....no cold spots.
