Beach Cod
Was fishing on sunset/early evening on Saturday night on a NOR beach and managed to snare myself a nice Black Spotted Rock Cod or Malabar Grouper.
Only measured 44cm but was a tasty entree for Sunday nights' dinner. Was a bit surprised to get a Cod of the beach, but happy non-the-less.
As per my other post in the Mulla thread (inserted below) I also lost a decent Mulla on my first cast of the night that I'm not all to happy about :(
"Line was in the water all of 20 seconds (first cast of the night/evening) and BANG, was on. Had a good 20 second run, tightened up the drag a touch, and got the customary head shakes. Managed to get about 20m of line back in... then the dredded snap. Thought it mast have chewed it off (using 60lb mono leader) but alas when I got my line in it was broken off at the main line (50lb braid). The leason to be learnt here is if you have a big tussle with a fish close to rocks, always remove a good portion of your main line to get rid of chaffing. Rookie error on my behalf and I paid for it".
Tight lines.
Jesse.

Yep Wirrah. Good that you thought it tasted good. Have caught heaps myself from NOR metro beaches around reef but never tried eating one as most people seem to say they arent that good in taste or texture.

Very firm white flesh,
Very firm white flesh, dipped in beaten egg whites then just dusted it in some tumeric, flour, paprika, salt + pepper and Keens curry powder, then shallow fried. Delish.
