Beejaling shoal trip
Submitted by carnarvonite on Thu, 2015-06-11 17:07
Took mate Dave for a run up to Beejaling shoals today to wet a line and give the boat a run. The conditions were bloody tough and for a while I was in 2 minds on whether to turn round and head for shelter.
The first 2 pics are of the Fascine in Carnarvon as we were leaving at 0730, the third is when we decided to get our sea legs back together and have a feed around 1030.
Finished up with 3 pinkies, two black snapper [one was a good one], a crimson sea perch and a good estuary cod. Lost a good broad bar mackerel estimated around 15kg from having no gaff, a couple of unstoppable cod and heaps of small pinkies and grassies released. All up a good relaxing day

Nope
Not one to take piss out on a boat, even in tough conditions like that. Seen too many things go wrong from time in sea rescue and certainly don't want that against my record.

Hidden
No, complete fish just the tail hidden by the one on top of it.
Spoke to a mate who operates a charter boat who fished a spot about 1/2 a mile inside of where we were and he said they got sharked and moved but luckily we never saw a sign of the buggers.

Not fussed
Wasn't too fussed, Dave wasn't too keen on it and neither did I so would have probably released it anyway. Have lost bigger and better fish over the years while fishing for a living, one gets a bit blasé over time.
Same goes for mulloway, if someone really wants one I will bring one in otherwise they don't even come on board.

I'm the same. release all
I'm the same.
release all the mackies I catch. got to admit I love catching them but all the better if I don't have to get them in the boat.
