There is another smaller book, not sure if its still available, The Marine and Estuarine Fishes of South Western Australia by Barry Hutchins and Martin Thompson that fills in a few gaps.

Thanks for that, Seems like
Thanks for that, Seems like two long term FW members can't be wrong. I basically want to identify the fish and if the book has some info as to max size, habitat, area etc. will be a bonus. Where do I go to buy these books. Will they be on ebay?

Newsagent
Not sure about on ebay, try your local newsagent or book store, if they don't have it in stock they will be able to order it for you.

Species ID books
The only books you need to own are The marine fishes of North West Australia, and the Sea fishes of Southern Australia, if you own both you will be able to ID most species without any hassle.

Fishing The Wild West
Gday,
I asked the same question on another forum recently and heaps of people recommended "Fishing The Wild West" By Ross Cusack and Mike Roennfeldt.
I have ordered it and it should be here this week....if you want to wait, I can let you know what its like later in the week hopefully.
Cheers

Not yet, Phoned Tackle world
Not yet, Phoned Tackle world this morning but they are out, News agency near me does not keep the book. I can order online from Marine direct but they are about $30 + $9 postage. Will be cheaper to buy from tackle stores. Maybe Ill wait til they have the book. At least they give FW members some discount.
Cheers

ID books
Hey Ron, I would have thought you would get them at any good tackle shop.
Maybe ask the site sponsors, and if they can't help I got mine from Tackleworld.

There is also Grants Guide to Fishes by Ern Grant
It is a mighty tome and covers most of Australia, I use the other small guides on the boat but Grants is something else in my opinion.
