I know of a honker mackie taken on a Maria Loaded 180 landbased in Exmouth, thing was huge. As I never fished steep point I would probably cast sinking stickbaits 180 sized and let them sink, work them back till they came to the surface then let them sink again and start again, this is the method of lure retrive that I use off my jetty about 4-6m above the water chasing queenies macks and trevs

Cheap

A lot cheaper and humbler (especially if you make your own) is the 6/0 white leadhead jig, casts like a bullet in any breeze and only needs one speed, flat out.

The biggest gold Raider works a treat.

Shame the Iron range of lures went out of production years back, the Iron Coffins and Undertakers were about the best I've ever used.

Halco Laser Pros 190s are good just make sure you get the shallow ones (2m) and not the deep divers.

You can't cast them as far as some of the other lures mentioned above but I find their action in the water tends to attract more fish.

The Tuna in my profile pic has one hanging out its mouth.

metal slices are definately the go, for hardbodies i use rapala sxr14 and yo-zuri sliders. theyve worked very well up at steep and quobba.
