Best rig?

I have been fishing a lot lately using a 2 hook paternoster rig and a slider rig but all I seem to catch is either PortJacksons or sea trumpeter (not complaining as its better than not catching) but I'm not sure weather I should be fishing the bottom or putting a unweighted mueli out on a set of ganged hooks? Any info would be great, I generally fish around shore marks like ocean reef and hillarys. Cheers

Rig
Stewart,
more just the areas you are fishing in, plenty of those PJs around. Sometimes plagues of the litle munchers. The rigs you are using will catch fish, make sure your leads are down to the minimum or none if possible. Plenty of good gummies coming off the beaches in that area when its a bit rough!

Hi Stewart,What are you
Hi Stewart,
What are you targeting - a ganged mulie will be fine for tailor on a slider or paternoster. Plenty of interesting by-catches to be had at this time of year from any of the beaches, flathead, Gummys, soapies and bigger mulloway, snook etc. Like Nightfish says its more likely the areas you are fishing. Hilarys and Sorrento is home to silly amounts of PJs. you could go with smaller baits and use a 2 hook pat with prawns (soaked in oil), blood worm/sand worm or mulie tails for whiting or herring. Alternatively trumpeter will also make reasonable bait fileted for bigger fish or smaller strips - i find its one of the best baits for herring.

Thanks fellas, could you's recommend a few shores marks to try around the perth area? Not asking for your secret marks :-).. Message me if it suits. Fished Mindarie tonight with little results, times like this I miss my boat back in Ireland....
