Big Cobia fun

Hi all,
Took some mates out in Moreton Bay Brisbane on Sunday to see if I could get them a decent fish as a couple of them hadn't fish much before. I think I broke them in well as we caught some monster Cobia (black kingfish) and the boys couldn't believe it. We lost some much bigger fish to structure but a good day was had by all. We also caught a few cod which we let go to fight another day. They were all caught using live yakkas and herring on 80lb tackle.

80lb !!!!
Far out mate, love your work. I bet there are some knuckles dragging on the ground after those big cobes. I wonder if they get much bigger than that ?

Thanks for the comments guys.
Berlin they get alot bigger mate. Most we have been getting are around and over 30kg with a 40kg one on the weekend. Have seen the odd one over the years around 50kg so they sure get big.

Man a 50kg coconut head
That would certainly give you stick on the gear I use to catch Cobia around the mantas. A Saragosa 4000 on a Dropshot Pro 4-6 with 10kg Finns Braid and a R2S Triho lure with fluoro leader 40 lb.
Thats a fun combo for the little cobes, but I do mean up to 10kg and more. NOT 50kg though.
