Few flatties around lower reaches of the Swan

Got out this morning for an hour and a bit around Pt Walter. Managed to pick up this flattie on a Damiki Mu which was a PB for me at 45cm. Spooked a couple of really nice sized fish too so things are looking good for summer.

Good flattie, Ben!
Great photos, nice report...what's the blowie situation there? Would soft plastics be an option?

Yeah they were manic John,
Yeah they were manic John, you'd get smashed by them mate.
Had a posse of 30 following me around my feet and must have caught about 15 of the critters.

Nice flattie Ben, shame
Nice flattie Ben, shame about those blowies, might have to give the bream a miss and start chasing flatties again!
Love this Country!

Picked the right day - I
Picked the right day - I went out and worked the spit on Tuesday. Absolutely magic weather and super clear water but could not find a lizzard in two hours. Saw a couple of Undersize blueys though.
Agree with the comments about softies- you might as well just hit them with the stick blender at home and throw them in the bin - same result. You will get plenty of action but you will get sick of it pretty quick

Yep kept the flattie Dicey,
Yep kept the flattie Dicey, my kids wanted it for tea . Geez they're a tasty fish. Dropped it in a flour / cumin / sesame seed mix and quickly shallow-fried it. They wolfed it down (except the bits I pinched).
Digger when I got there the easterlies were howling so I fished the Freo side of the spit. The water was bumpy but not broken like the city side, got the fish about 10 mins in and spooked the second one about 20 mins in. After about half an hour the wind dropped and the water flattened out a heap and I reckon that's one of the reasons why it went quiet. Too still and too clear.

Nice work Ben. I've been getting a couple way upstream as well but not in huge numbers. I'll have to get out this week for a few quick sessions.

Nice
Top Swan River flattie Ben. I loved wading the flats and using the hard bodies on 2-4kg gear. Missing it heaps at the moment. I've taken to wearing booties when wading to stop the blowies chewing on my feet, little buggas hurt if they get hold of you.
The best reason for doing what's right today is tomorrow.

Yeah Mate, when I was there
Yeah Mate, when I was there it was like a millpond (except for the DH doing 40Kn on his jetski - things you see when you havent got a gun........). Worked both sides, water was noticably warmer on Upstream side. I have found a few recently upstream further but had to give the spit a go, Might have "a bit of time on my hands" tomorrow morning after work. If I stir up anything I will flick out something.
Byline - saw a nice cobbler (50 cm) up by narrows on monday morning. Been a long time since I have seen one, but maybe protection is having an effect - it was nice to see, regardless.
