Big Tagged Pinkie!
Hi all,
Headed out from Woodies last Saturday for another snapper session with Dean (Dirt) and Max, and of course can't forget the No1 deckie Marlin Dean's bullie. He just loves coming fishing.
We headed to a spot we've been fishing regularly lately and bagging out on every trip and Saturday afternon was to be no exception with the three of us bagging out by 6.00pm and on our way home. We all caught some really nice pinks and there was some decent sized skippy being caught in between the snapper, they were on the bite early with most of the snapper being caught before dark.
The high light of the afternoon was a horse tagged pinkie that I caught that measured 92cm tag No 5265 could be one of Ryan's maybe? It was an awsome fish to catch virtually took the bait as it landed on the water the bait probably only got to sink a couple of feet. This big pink being a tagged fish and such a great capture it was decided it would be released so a quick measure and a couple of pics and back in the water to fight another day. It was such a pleasure to watch this big snapper swim away. :-)
We were throwing soft plastics around but the snapper didn't seem to interested in them all the fish caught took unweighted scalies. The only surprise catch on a plastic for the arvo was a large salmon that took a nuclear chicken jerk shad as it was getting dark and we were about to pull the anchore and head home, we first called it for a big tailor when it was doing it's ariels out the back of the boat, don't have the pic of that one at the moment sorry.
I've been trying to get in touch with the fisheries report the capture and give them all the details! But it is proving to be very frustrating I keep getting put through to research and no one answers the phone! I have left messages and no one rings me back.
Here's a few pics of another top pinkie session.
Me and the tagged snapper
The No1 deckie in the back ground flat out as usual!...lol
The skip with a nice pinkie.
And again.
Cheers hope you enjoyed the read and pics.

Well done guys they are top catchs all of them. I am yet to fish the Sound for snapper. Do you fish the morning as well? I normally fish hillarys hale road and Rottnest. Fished for eight hours last Saturday from 6.00 am for zip. Worst result for a long time i wonder if the full moon had an effect?

Sound.
Although we left from Woodies jewskip we were not in what most people call the sound....but that's all I'm saying...you will get pinkies in the morning and evening normally the change of light is when it fires times leading up to and after the new moon are good. We've found that we get a good bite with the pinks early on fuller moons they seem to go off the bite pretty quick once the moon rises this was also the case on Saturday arvo once the moon got up the snapper when pretty quiet.

Tagged Pinky!
Well done Paul & Dean ..... some nice pinks indeed
As Rockpom said, we're taggers for Fisheries Research and happy to pass on any recapture info to the right people @ Fisheries Reseach so either Rockpom or myself can assist!
Judging on the closeness of the tags it's not my fish (I spread my dart tag's further apart) but congrats on releasing the fish for further research
