Bit of excitement at freo traffic bridge last night
Well looks like it may be life number 4 i have saved.
I was driving around freo takin pics with my new lens and decided to pull into my favorite fishin spot in freo (traffic bridge)
Walked down the steps till i got to the bottom and noticed a girl right next to the 3ft wide plank thet goes out to the middle of the bridge. She was by herself and talking to herself and waving arms around (not all there).
I walked back to the car and put camera away and went back down to try get her away from the walkway.
I approched her and said hello, no reply just grunts and moans. As i stepped towards her she backed up and made a move for the plank.
I ended up sub duing her and got brian to call police, she broke free and made a run for the stairs and strait infront of traffic. 5 min later she was walkin back and down the steps towards the walkway and mutterd something about ending it. She ened up walking the plank in the dark when police arrived and i took them out to her. I walked police out on the plank to where she was sitting. The police called water police incase she fell or jumped. Police brought her back after alot of talking and ended up taking her away but she kept saying " I want to go to the water. It was soooo freaky! Police congratulated me and Brian and said any longer her out there and she would of gone in. One slip there and its all over! I would hate to think what might of happend if she were still there alone.

bit hard to see her with the long axposure but she in on the walkway to the right of the pic. She is blurry
Cops rocked up, tooke them down there and went back to the car to do the pics

still dont know how she made it out there without falling in. She was swaying and totally out of it!
This is what it looks like under the bridge in the day.... Bloody dangerous with a massive current let alone, suicidal ,drugged up and in the dark...

I was looking at the sigma
I was looking at the sigma 10-20mm late last year, and in the space of about a month the price doubled. I think I can wait for the prices to drop a little! Damn photography being such an expensive hobby!

Great stuff Marc, definately agree with Colin. It would certainly been a lot easier to walk away. But then you would be living with it forever if you heard that something bad happened. Well done for having the courage to do the right thing; it's not always easy.

If you havnt got a tripod
If you havnt got a tripod and infared remote, grab them :)Infared remote off ebay is around $12. Cheap as!
Set camera to "av" the iso to 400 then set camera to infra red sensor and adjust sutter speed to suit. I click my shutter to "bulb " so i can choose the length of time to keep shutter open :)

Bloody Well Done Marc!
Too many people don't care or won't get involved in the situation you described - it's shows selfless kindness, care and energy and exposes you to possible risk. With out your good samaratin intervention, there would, it seems, have been every likelihood that another terrible and senseless tragedy could have occurred at that bridge.
So bloody well done!

Did something crazy last
Did something crazy last night. Went walking around Northbridge with the camera and tripod lol.
Im not very happy with the pics. It was harder than i thought , maybe the 10mm lens is harder for night shoots in city lights.
Thought i was going to be mugged but i was well armed ;)

all you needed to do
is spread the legs on your tripod until it is low enough to not catch the back lighting would make for a more dramatic shot and take out some of the sky.You can also landscape your existing shot to take it out.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?
