bit of a yakkers report

Well today started off with the alarm at 330 am. Got up made me coffee and lunch and set off for mindarie. Had to dodge a roo just before the ocean reef exit on the mitchell and another on mindarie drive i think it was. Anyway got to the ramp, got sorted and got in the water for the non eventfull hour long sail out.
Once out there the spot looked promissing but no sign of any decent fish. Got plagued by little pickers and northwest blowies destroying down rigged baits so switched to plastics and jigs but that didnt get any hits.
At around 10 i went back to line up another drift but the sounder screen was bare! I thought there was something wrong with it. Prior to this it was alive with all the wrasse and other junk on the bottom so i set up a pointless drift and dropped down a bait.
After a bit this got picked up by a small snapper or around 300mm.
Set up another drift after dealing with the snapper and the screen lit up! There was fish everywere ( this was about 10 past 10. Im thinking it may off been a tide change but i havent checked yet). Dropped down another bait and watched a fish follow it down and take of with it...flicked over the bail arm to set the hook and it came up solid. Quick bit of a tussle and up comes another pb dhu at 660 mm.
As it hit the surface and as i was kneeling out on the tramp a decent sized shark was honing in on its dinner! So i sort of grabbed the fish and jumped back into my seat in one go! The shark quickly turned just before the surface And made a bit of a splash and boil from the tail.
I turned on the shark sheild and stashed the dhu but didnt killing as i was going to try and upgrade. After a quick phone call and after noticing this shark was now circling me but keeping clear by about 5 meters due to the sharksheild i re set the drift and dropped down another bait. Again it came up solid and this fish was alot bigger. I was struggling to get it off the bottom, not that i was worried as there is no structure around but it was giving giving me some curry! Finally after 5 mins it came up and started to float as the bigger ones do.
I was getting excited, this fish was alot bigger as i seen it coming up. I estimate between 800 and 900 mm. However when it surfaced it was roughly 7 meters away and yep the tax man took it, leaping out of the water in the process. All i got back was a jaw however this gave me a much better idea on how big this shark was. HUGE!! Atleast 8 food long and as round as a 44 gallon drum :/ this got me a bit on edge but the shark sheild seemed to be doing its job.
I went back to bait trolling whilst moving away from the area but the shark followed...hooked it twice and after nearly spooling me both times i called it quits and dispatched my dhuey from earlier. The shark swam next to me for about 2 kms back to 3 mile reef then buggered off.
After all that exitment and drama just to top it off the the tread on my left rear tyre decided to tear away from the rest of the tyre on the freeway but due to roadworks there was no were to stop So i had to keep going about 200 meters to the armadale road offramp...what a alot of smoke hahaha any ways i had a great day and heres a couple of pics.
Both screen shots are of schooling dhufish on a lowrance hds 7
