Sat, 2011-07-09 21:48

Even when your gear is bolted down so low life prick wants to steal it.

Where was it stored so those in the area know to keep an ear and eye out.

I've always thought...

Sun, 2011-07-10 08:06

...that if you're paying good money to store gear at one of these self-storage places, that they would assume some sort of responsibility for the security of your belongings? Obviously they DON'T, which I think is wrong. Or maybe you're given the option of paying extra money for insurance when you first sign up?

I guess, at the end of the day, if someone really wants to swipe your stuff, it wouldn't even be safe at Fort Knox. Hope you can get at least some of it back, and/or your insurance mob does the right thing, mate.

this is bullshit what is

Sun, 2011-07-10 17:43

this is bullshit what is wrong with people these days ? if there really any need to have this kind of behaviour tolerated in society. laws definatly need to be tightend alot. i feel sorry for you mate. hopefully they find some of the missing goods , put out a call to all cash converters and similiar types stores so they know what the go is when your gear might happen to show up. All the best mate ?

I think you'll find

Mon, 2011-07-11 12:32

that as a rule society dosen't choose to tolerate this. The problem is, that the courts who are designed to reflect society's values are not. The laws don't need tightening so to speak - they need to acted upon and appropriate penalties handed out - that is what is not happening IMO.

100% with you Paully, when

Mon, 2011-07-11 14:24

100% with you Paully, when last did you hear of a judge or magistrate throwing the full force of the law in maximum sentence at any one??? not even murder gets big numbers anymore and life is just not life in prison, but more like 20 years max!

I like the USA California system, three strikes and you out... go google it and see how it works,

As for jurvies, bring back the chain gang and cane I say! let their mates see them working in orange jump suits on the side of the roads as penalty for their actions. Let them pick up litter and clean the streets for their actions!

Who you insured with?

Sun, 2011-07-10 19:19

I'm curious about the insurance side of this, would have thought that some liability would come back on the self storage place, although the buggers usually have indemnity clauses or whatever that you sign I am sure.

Last time I lost some stuff out the boat I ended up claiming it on the home insurance because it was under the carport, and the insurer deemed that ok for home insurance claim. Obviously no help being as its not your home but maybe the storage people are good for it...

Will be good crab bait if you get hold of them Im sure.

make a turn at the knock-shop

Mon, 2011-07-11 12:20

make a turn at the knock-shop in Guildford, they often the first port of call for low-lifes wanting to hock stuff. They on Guildford Road just after the boat dealership on the right.

good luck and hope you catch the buggers

Not exactley the courts to blame

Mon, 2011-07-11 19:54

I know I know its the courts that hand down the sentences But.......I once heard a retired juge talking about how sentences are

handed down and unfortunatley they have to follow the rules and the laws are such that the crims get discounts for various things

like a percentage for having remorse a discount for pleading guilty a discount for coming from a brocken home a discount for cooperating with the cops when arrested a discount for holding their tounge right etc etc so even if the juge wanted to give the maximum sentence he has by law to apply the discounts as stated above. it's the laws that need to change.

You only learn this lesson

Mon, 2011-07-18 12:24

You only learn this lesson once, don't leave anything in the boat no matter wear it's stored. My stuff got knocked off once the night before, even had a dhuie knocked off out of the esky once when we left it over night after getting back late.

It's a pain in the arse but anything in my boat valuable comes out after a trip and it gets packed at 4 in the morning before we leave.

I have accumilated too much gear to have it all knocked off again!!

prisons

Mon, 2011-07-18 15:23

I say build more prisons i would be prepaid to pay more tax to build massive prisons. Why should some f#*king wanker steal and wreck you pride and joy  just to get a slap on the wrist then you have to pay higher premiums for insurance.I think i can speak for everyone and say we all work hard for our money,I'm a tiler and have to grovel around on my hands and knees all day to earn a living to have some little turd steel your gear is not on.Give em some time in the slot and let them think about it.

I grew up round midland and will ask mates to keep an ear out.Thats why i moved down south to get away from those shit heads.

Well glad i got that out of my system lol .

Prison should be hard

Mon, 2011-07-18 15:51

Prison should be hard labour!!  Not body building using gym equipment, not watching bloody movies, not eating fancy food, not looking at the internet!

Bread, water, work and if you got good behaviour, you get a blanket to sleep on
