Its always
Best to catch them first,no smaller than a beer can across the back, tip to tip,put them on ice,as it helps to stop them throwing their legs off when you cook them, bring salted water to boil, add crabs, when water boils again about 5 mins, others on this site may have other ideas.good luck jersey

keep it simple IMO
boil them (upside down so all the "muck" stays in the shell when you peel it off) and have it with a home-made seafood sauce or vinegar with salt and pepper on fresh buttered bread.
Got me salivating thinking about it.......

I usually steam them these
I usually steam them these days rather than boil. Maggie Beers has a crab omlette with sorrel but it works fine with spinach.

I use the pot that I used to
I use the pot that I used to use for boiling a couple crays, in the bottom put either a bamboo steamer insert from the local vietnamese grocer, they cost almost nothing, or if you get caught out just out, put in a big desert bowl that covers most of the bottom, upside down. Get it boiling hot and stack the crays in with a pair of tongs. They only needs 5min and they're usually done if you have a good burner. I use the wok burner on my BBQ and it does the job.
