Boat latch or boat catch?

Howdy all, im looking at setting up my trailer with either a boat latch or a boat catch system. The boats a 23 ft caribbean and weighs around 2 tonne i would imagine. I would like to hear from anyone who has either of these systems amd how they rate them.

Or if there are any other alternatives on the market now i would be interested in those too :)

Tight lines.

 G'day

I've read quite a few threads on the topic and you'll find that both brands have happy owners, never heard a negative comment from an owner of either.

I had an L and R Boatlatch on a previous boat (600c Northbank), loved it and never had any issues with it.  I do like multiple attachments between boat and trailer when not in the water though and would always do the ready launch detachments with the stern in the water but the bow where I could release the chain and winch cable without the need for wet feet.  I've heard of and seen pics of a couple of bar crushers (bar catch) which use a similar principle (spring release) where they either forgot to remove the motor flag and drove up the ramp with the catch in release position and the boat dropped on to the ramp.  I think you would have to slam the brakes on hard to get the boat to roll up the trailer on the ramp.   Normally only driving with it in the Latched position and other attachments, shouldn't be an issue but something to be mindful of.

The boat catch, I've looked at and not to keen on the dangling string personally and depending on how that relates to trailer wheels etc, owners will enligten I expect.  I have read one post where a person was going to fit a Boat Latch but fitting wasn't easy on his setup so he went for the catch.

I think the L and R is a fair bit cheaper but you may need the larger model

I'd have another but now have a cat on skids and it just wouldn't move easily enough to be practicle so the wife is back in boots

Cheers

Rod

Boatcatch

Been using the boatcatch for a few years and pretty close to the best boat thing I have ever bought. Launch and drive on retrive very easy, keeps the wife out the way which keeps us both happy. The string isnt an issue and you can use from the boat or jetty whatever you like. I have a Reef Runner.

I have a Boat Latch. Drive on

I have a Boat Latch. Drive on is excellent but I haven't used the drive off yet. I do think the Boat Catch is a slightly better system due to the positive locking mechanism but I couldn't fit it due to my sealed hull below the bow eye and I needed to replace my winch post to fit it above the bow eye. Too many $$ to justify

I have one of these. Reworking it atm as my barwork for the winch is too big but the above trailer should be ok. The eye might be a bit far away for Katchya?
