Boat Transport - is this legal??
Submitted by Iceman on Tue, 2018-09-25 10:53
My wife saw this a couple of weeks ago before we went away and was wondering if this is a legal way to transport a boat when towing a caravan.
Sorry for poor quality but was taken of the computer from Dash Cam footage

As long as that bow is less
As long as that bow is less than 4.3m high I don’t see a problem.

Saw it last week
One of the benefits from living in Carnarvon is seeing the multitude of weird and wacky setups that get around. This particular one was built by someone who knew what they were doing. The best to date has been an Isuzu motorhome with a tandem axle trailer on the back with a two post car hoist . Boat was backed onto trailer lifted up on the hoist , Suzuki vitara driven in underneath with a pole supporting the trailer hitch . I won’t go into some of the less well thought out ones!

See that all the time, but
See that all the time, but some go overboard a bit with boats that are far too big. Our dinghy is in the trailer, we winch it up and can then drive the cruiser in under it. All neat and tidy and doesn’t come out unless we need it.

Pair of ramps and a winch would be easy enough.

Yep, ramps and winches, it’s a pretty quick process once you have done it a few times.
