Body of fisherman found near Albany
THE body of a 40-year-old Morley man has been recovered after he was swept off rocks on Salmon Hole Beach near Albany just before 7am this morning.
Other fishermen on the rocks made the emergency call after the man was reportedly hit with a king wave and swept out to sea.
Police arrived at the scene at about 7.15am, where the man's deceased body had washed ashore.
Police spokesman, Greg Lambert, said the "tragic incident highlights the dangers of rock fishing.

Salmon holes
Have fished there before and can be a very dangerous spot for the unwary.
Its never a good feeling when one hears of someone being lost to the sea either from landbased or boats

I have it on good authority
I have it on good authority that the man was actually washed off the beach (not rocks) while concentrating on his fishing gear! He must have been super unlucky.
Commiserations.

off the beach
That doesnt at all surprise me. I have heard stories of king waves (which I understand to be a surge of water not an actuall wave) rolling cars on some beaches down here in Albany many years ago.

Very sad to loose another life down on the south coast.
A PFD for rock fisherman is a must in my opinion .
