I ventured down there for the very first time, a couple of weeks ago.....and I live down that way! Saw some interesting ground and lots of red on the sounder, but alas no fish, but we'll be back down there again soon, checking it out....it takes time to sound out potential new ground and with summer coming on, I reckon we'll have a dive down that way, too.
If you do go down that way, don't forget the berley as you'll probably find some skippy lurking around....lots of fun on light gear, and not bad in the pan either.
I fished there for the first time ever a couple of weeks back and found it so good I went back the following week. From Bunbury it is approx. 22 NM and from Dawsville it is approx 23 NM. to the southern end.
From Bunbury it is great if a Easterly is blowing because you can hug the coast up then head offshore to your spot (not far) then hug the coast home! Too easy!
I wanted to treke up there last weekend but wasn't quite sure on the weather so didn't, only to find the boat at the ramp that came in just after us was smaller than mine, and they made the journey and bagged out on big Snapper, releasing many more.
Welcome aboard and thanks for the insight into some fishing ground that's in my back yard. Since buying the big boat last November, we've neglected 'down the coast', in favour or heading out wide...with limited success. Have heard lots of stories about the fishing around the Bouvards so we're keen to get down there, as soon as we get some better weather.
A nice haul in your avatar....were they caught locally?
ye mate they were both caught at bouvards,11kg+20.5kg, thats what keeps me going there, hug shore line going down,sw behind you coming home ,have 21ft ali why burn more fuel going out wide

giday razerbacknew to site so
giday razerback
new to site so hope you get this, have been fishing northern end down to just past Preston for last 17yrs,
cant beleive not more boats fish this area, this time of year fish inside the reef, anchor on bombies burley up
for pinkies you be surprised if you find right spot, i fish as light as possible floating bait in trail
summer time get on reef look for clear small as possible holes in reef anchor right on them.
If you drift on reef under 12m lose lots of gear
have had most success drifting off back in the 15-17 m ,if you go out to the 20-25m look for small patches coral
hope this helps ,good luck
