Dems da rules.
First off , I dont hunt myself , but have read up on some rules in the past , heres what I know
all hunting must be on private land , with permission of land holder, no public land hunting.
Any hunts must be on animals classifyed as feral / and or introduced.
And bow fishing ( as opposed to bow hunting) is usually covered by the same rules and regs as spearfishing.

please dont take this as a
please dont take this as a criticism, rather advice
Please check with your clubs topguns, for advice on whether they think you really are ready for the field before venturing out to have a go, or even better go with someone who is an expert in this art a few times first-joining a club is easily the best way into this.
As a lifetime hunter myself (firearm not bow) I have to say I'd be astonished that a couple of months is sufficient to gain the skill needed to begin bowhunting-perhaps though its easier than it looks or your a very quick learner?
Hunting requires offhand shooting from positions and situations totally unrelated from range shooting with many added hazards obstacles and dangers.
Arrows do not have anything like the shock/kill power of a firearm and so need very careful placement for a clean kill.
We have all seen the published pics of roos/foxes/cats/rabbits with an arrow thru it, causing incalculable damage to the hunting sports in general.
I have never seriously tried archery however a very good friend of mine has been into it (competiton) since his teens and is also a landowner-he finds field hunting very difficult and gets me out on his property to knock off the rabbits instead.
I fully understand that a rifle in the wrong hands can easily cause similar or worse outcomes, just that with a bow it is compounded (pun not intended
)

Looking Good
I have hunted with a bow for a long time, I have an Elite GT500 with 80lb abd 70lb limbs, I put the 70lb limbs back on my bow about 1 year ago, (nothing big enough here to justify an 80 lb bow with 740 grain arrow), was seriously tempted to sell it as I could find any hunting grounds near perth.
Irony of bow hunting is that the smaller the animal the harder it is to hunt. (smaller kill zones and alot more alert). Most bow hunters start of from a blind as you are hidden and have the advantage of tuning in the distances. Once they have hunted from a blind for a few (years/months) they then start to walk and stalk.
Maybe this calls for a joint "club" shoot. Might just have to join WA bowhunters club now.
cheers

I may be able to help
I have access to land in the waroona flats between the old coast road and swhwy.I have damage control tags for 34 grey kangaroos. The property is best culled by having a stalker and myself ambushing in a selected location and head shooting as they break out the bush at close range.there are 3 areas this can be done on this land.I am shooting from the ground and my field of fire is over open pasture.I use a .222 that is loaded with 2208ADI powder and a 50 g soft nose projectile.I have calculated its range to be aprox 300m before the projectile hits the ground. The roos usualy stop on the edge of clearings because they do not wish to leave cover during daylight hours.I have a coolroom on the property if its warm and flies are a problem. The advantage for the stalker is you are hunting in thick paperbark and if you are good enough you will get close to foxes which the place has a plague of.It is flooded at the moment so no driving and night shooting till late october. The southern boundry has rabbits along the waroona drain which can be accesssed by a service road all year round.there is more information and I also have a property that is good for pigs closer to harvey if you feel confidant. It is very thick bush and not good for night culling but great day spot.It is good to have land with papers where you are able to do hunting legaly.pm if interesred
just do it.
