Submitted by Dan_9 on Tue, 2015-11-10 09:25
Please keep an eye and ear out. Our workshop and shed were broken into last night Wangara / gnangara area. John Deere gator along with tonnes of diving and fishing gear stolen.
Dive gear is regs, bcd's, goggles, fins etc etc one pair of goggles are custom prescription and useless to anyone except my dad.
fishing gear is tiagra 50 and 30's brand new demon blood and saltist and other rods and reels but they will be most noticeable.
:((((( still looking around to see what else was taken.
Cheers guys

Planned!
Sorry to hear buddy , of course no one just steals a gator , cause it was there , someones being casing the
joint for a while.
Hope your insured , as in the final washup thats the only true line of defence, as you can never fully secure any thing really.
There just things mate, that can hopefully replaced , but low lifes have a bunch of karma coming, there not so
tough in the lockup showers I bet!

This is just bullshit and is out of control
My greatest fear is that I'm going to read in the paper that a good guy has caught one of these pieces of excrement in the act, then explained to him/them that their actions are not going to be tolerated.
The next thing is good guy ends up with the shitty end of the stick.

If I find them they would be
If I find them they would be coming fishing. I'd recommend for all to get photos of all their fishing gear as insurance company isn't playing nice at this stage.

For the benefit of all, would you please put the name of your insurer up so that members can make an informed choice when renewing their home, insurance policy.

Hows things mate
Hi Dan , any luck with insurance yet?
I am sure plenty want to know how its going for you, as meglodon says , we pay insurance for years , and yet at claim time can get shafted.
Ok maybe I am on my own here , but I have been paying house insurance for 16 years, since our first home, ( home and contents of course)
averaging well over a grand a year now, and have had one claim in that time. It was for a broken window that cost 400 bucks and we had a 200 excess at
that time.
Of course I have a morgage , so you dont have a choice , but I just think of it as a backup in the event of something bad happening.
I now its not always possible , but we have been in east freo for nearly 10 years without a problem , but I spent 10k on crimsafes screens, and a
few other tricks, as well as having a dog around the yard.

its not unusual for insurance
its not unusual for insurance companys to want some evidence of ownership of items reported stolen
our insurers wanted pics or evidence a while back when i had chainsaws nicked out of my shed ,
just gave them some pics of them in use , plus the users manual and acopy of a repair /service invoice on the items
that more than satisfied them , everything was fully replaced brand new
with all the modern iphones etc getting afew pics is easily done when an item is purchased and its advisable as a good habit for ownership records etc

Yes insurance company want
Yes insurance company want evidence of ownership photos, manuals or receipts. The company is rac. They won't accept bank statements. I've now moved to cgu top cover. Costs a little more but covers everything Australia wide. dive gear as well as tackle and some rods and reels are proving hard to claim due to not having enough evidence of ownership. I spent 9 months last year through the Kimberly and had nearly $1500 worth of Barra lures stolen but didn't keep receipts. I have collected my dive gear and fishing gear over probably the last 10-15 years so don't have receipts still for a lot of it so it's a painful process. :( sadly this is costing a lot and seriously heartbreaking considering i have spent a tonne of time and money over winter giving the boat a major birthday ready for dive and fishing season. I'd advise all to lay out their gear and get detailed photos of it all to prevent this happening to anyone else.

Ok so here's the latest
Ok so here's the latest update. Old boys insurance is with RaC who don't cover diving or fishing gear so nothing from them. Tried with club marine who sent a massive snippet of their t&c basically saying as it wasn't in a locked compartment on the boat also null and void.
My insurance is now with CGU who cover dive gear and fishing gear (which I now have none of) anywhere in Australia.
Check your insurance lads. Club marine boat and "contents" don't cover any contents at all unless they are in a lockable compartment.
If you see me(XTSEA- Leeder 710 supersport) over chrisy / ny at rotto pub jetty Come for a beer as I can't dive or fish now lol
