Keep trying
Keep trying mate, your in a good area to get some bigger ones. Try bigger baits to get past all the small Bream.
I find bigger baits will get hit less often but produce better fish .

yea definatley i could even
yea definatley i could even feel they were slowly pulling the bait off and then the tension would just release and then you wind in with a clean hook but when you hook a big one its definatley worth it

Good to see you getting into
Good to see you getting into some fish even if they are small. I get my biggest bream very early, I try to get on the water by 4am & fish through until about 8am at the latest. The little black crabs that can be found under rocks along the rivers edge are great bait & I find if I use them the average size bream I get is a bit bigger than with prawns or shrimp. Switching over to lures is another great way to target bigger bream. I've been throwing sp's around at ascott for the last couple of weeks & have done fairly well with most of my fish being in the 22-28cm range. Not bad considering I've never really been into using plastics before & for the last year or so my average bream on prawn would be about 15cm.

Sinker
Try using the smallest ball sinker you can get away with above the hook. No sinker at all if possible and maybe even downsize your hook , something like a Mustad bloodworm hook. The more natural looking your presentation is the better.
