Floreat Drain

First Post for me and I have to start with a negative. Went down to Floreat Drain last night with a mate, first time at the drain, anyhow no fish and get back to me car and the window has been smashed in,glove box gone thru. Wasnt going to post anything about this but thought some people would want to be aware. S&*t happens I suppose

Bummer

Fri, 2012-02-24 14:41

That's a real bummer. I have been going down to the drain about three times a week for the last 5 months and have never had a problem. Saying that I always endeavour to park my car in the centre of the carpark to ensure that it is as visible as possible. I find that if you park on the front row facing the dunes then your car is less visible (more vulnerable).

I must say that I have had some later evenings down there fishing solo, until about midnight, and I haven't enjoyed the walk back up the path. There can be some interesting people at that time of night on the pathway. I have walked the pathway with fishing knife in hand but I end up putting it away when someone comes because then I fell like a psycho.

Dunno if early in the morning

Dunno if early in the morning will make a difference.

Here in Karratha, while I'm driving to work at 5:20 am there is still scum / teens / kids walking the bloody streets.  Why dont the cops take them home?  They obviously are up to no good, sometimes they try and hide behind bushes / cars etc as you drive past

Breakins

Fri, 2012-02-24 22:27

I hear what your saying spooled but years ago I had my car done several times before 6am. Now I only fish where I can see my car and upgraded to a 4wd.

Floreat drain is a legendary spot it's a shame to see people rightly scared go fish it due to these shitheads

Hi guysIs there any

Sat, 2012-02-25 21:06

Hi guys

Is there any particular reason for this occuring so oftern, other forums and sites are also reporting the same issues. Are they targeting fisherman? I was under the impression Floreat was a decent area?

Anyway, any tips for good Perth beach shark fishing locations. ie gummy, small whaler, small tiger etc. I'm using a surf rod with 30lb braid so not looking at paddeling out baits or huge sharks?

Cheers

Jarrod

Leaving ur car somewhere out

Wed, 2012-02-29 14:38

Leaving ur car somewhere out of sight (of generel public) makes it an easy target. Fishing these kinda locations is prime opporunity for these dogs. When i worked at freo cemetery (gardening) it was almost daily occurence... little old nanas were getting their windows smashed and handbags stolen while saying their final goodbyes to loved ones. i even had my own car broken into and they stole my TAFE bag. silly me for leaving it there but.
