Bream size limits
Submitted by fisharoo on Thu, 2014-04-24 20:35
Today I had a look at the fish ruler sticker. It says that black bream size limit was 25 and yellowfin bream was 30cms. I was a little confused as I thought that yellowfin bream was tarwine. A little research showed me that tarwine was actually a silver bream. My question is, does yellowfin bream get caught here in perth? I've been catching bream for over 20years.....and only realised this today. I've only thought only two types of bream get caught around here. Black and tarwine.

Yellowfin very rare. But lol
Yellowfin very rare. But lol U have been throwing back oversize bream. Thought that the yellowfin part of the name would tell you that bream with yellow fins were yellowfin bream. Black bream and tarwhine both have limits if 25cm in the river.
Fishing the swan for bream, it's just an obsession

Yeh, most of the tarwhine
Yeh, most of the tarwhine I've caught had yellowfins. Hence from young I've thought it was called yellowfin bream here in the west. Many years of fishing and still learning:)
thanks
