awesome place. Not sure if the mouth has broken lately but if it has expect bream, flathead,  whiting, tailor, Skippy, gardies, anything really. Also awesome rock fishing around to the left if the swell is down. Take shoes because the rocks are super sharp. Off the beach expect all the regulars and I recon the salmon would be there by now too. Lots of gummy and schoolies off the beach there too.

To get to the mouth you need

Fri, 2014-02-14 11:43

To get to the mouth you need to take the Mandalay beach rd, then turn off at fishermans track and pay for park entry, let tires down etc. Takes about an hour 4wd to get to the mouth, but there are a few spots (starting from about halfway, look for the tin shack) on the inlet you can camp, they tend to be more protected too. Right up near the mouth camping spots are pretty unprotected, there is up against some dunes that looks good, has always been others there when i've been tho. If wind isn't too much of an issue though there are some nice spots. Btw they aren't 'official' camp spots.

Inlet is generally very shallow around the margins, its only up towards the mouth that you can cast from shore into 1m+ water. If you have a tinny its easier to camp further back and put around. Theres some real fat gardie in there too, would be great to stock up on for baits.

The track is pretty easy most of the way, few boggy/swampy spots closer to mouth end that can be a worry if theres been recent rain (rangers often close the track after rains). Few soft sandy stretches too, but nothing any decent 4wd can't handle. Have only fished the ebach once (always blowing a gale). got some fat Tarwhine. Should get all the usual stuff off there tho, good looking stretch.

Appreciate the info guys. Yeah I googled and saw some good country so thought we'd give it a bash. Probably head down in a couple of weeks . Just like the idea of beach, rocks and river/inlet all in close proximity to each other so really looking forward to it. I've got my leave pass from the war office so should be a great trip.

Thanks again.

 You're game getting a leave

You're game getting a leave pass so far off the actual date, in my experience the leave pass always seems to be retracted not long after being given... Haha. Good luck for your trip, biggest kgs I've ever caught came from the inlet there.
